Spring 2026 Preparation Guide
By The Store Team
March on Prince Edward Island means one thing: project season is coming. The snow isn't quite gone yet, but it's not too early to start planning. Here's what we recommend tackling first.
Inspect Your Roof and Gutters
Winter is hard on roofs, especially on the Island. Once the snow clears, check for missing or lifted shingles, and clean out your gutters. Ice dams can cause damage that's easy to miss from the ground. If you spot trouble, come talk to our building materials team — we stock shingles, flashing, and everything you need for repairs.
Check Your Deck and Exterior Wood
Freeze-thaw cycles take a toll on decks, railings, and steps. Look for boards that have heaved, split, or gone soft. A good deck stain applied in late spring will protect the wood through another summer of barbecues and bare feet. Our paint department carries Beauti-Tone deck stains that hold up well in Maritime weather.
Service Your Outdoor Equipment
Before you need the lawn mower, make sure it starts. Fresh fuel, a new spark plug, and a sharp blade make all the difference. We carry small engine parts, fuel stabilizer, and replacement blades. Same goes for trimmers and garden tools — a little sharpening now saves frustration later.
Plan Your Bigger Projects
Thinking about a new deck, a garage, or a kitchen renovation? Spring is the time to get your plans together. Bring us your blueprints and we'll do a material take-off with pricing. For kitchen projects, book a free design consultation in our showroom. The earlier you start planning, the smoother the build goes.
Stop in any time — we're here Monday to Saturday and happy to help you get ready for the season ahead.
