Expanding to Serve You Better

We've got some big news — and if you've driven past the store lately, you might have already guessed. North Rustico Home Hardware Building Centre is expanding. This is the biggest project we've taken on since Wayne and Lise Buote bought the original Callbeck's Home Hardware back in September of 1990.

After 28 years of serving this community, the store has outgrown itself. We've been making it work — squeezing one more SKU onto every shelf, stacking lumber a little higher in the yard, finding creative ways to fit a growing inventory into the same footprint. But our customers have been telling us for years that they want more selection, more room, and fewer reasons to drive to the city. We heard you. This expansion is the answer.

What's Coming

• New retail space — Thousands of square feet of additional room for tools, hardware, paint, electrical, plumbing, and everything else you come to us for.
• Expanded building materials — A bigger yard with more lumber, more sheet goods, and better organization for faster loading.
• A proper kitchen and bath design showroom — Full displays, a comfortable design area, and the ability to plan your renovation from start to finish right here in North Rustico.

Construction will be ongoing through 2018 and into 2019. We know that means some noise, some dust, and the occasional detour through the parking lot. We apologize in advance. But here's the important part: the store stays open throughout. We're not closing for a single day. You'll always be able to get what you need — it just might involve stepping around a pylon or two for a while.

When we look back at where this started — a small hardware store, three employees, one flatbed truck — and where we are today with over 50 people on the team and contractors from across Queens County counting on us, it's hard not to feel grateful. This community built this store. Every deck project, every kitchen renovation, every emergency run for a sump pump at 9 PM on a Saturday — that's what got us here.

We're excited about what's ahead. The new store is going to be something this area can be proud of, and we can't wait to show it to you when it's done. In the meantime, bear with us through the construction. It'll be worth the wait.
